At Lighthouse Family Centre, we are deeply committed to creating a safe, welcoming and empowering space for neurodiverse children, young people, and families. We understand that every child’s journey is unique — and we honour that with flexible, compassionate support tailored to individual needs.
Whether your child is in our early years provision, attending community sessions, or part of a youth programme, they will be welcomed, respected, and supported every step of the way.
SEND & Inclusion – Lighthouse Family Centre CIC
Inclusion isn’t an afterthought – it’s at the heart of everything we do.
Our Approach to Inclusion
Inclusion at Lighthouse is more than a policy — it's a daily practice of empathy, listening and love. We strive to ensure:
Every child feels safe, valued and understood
Every family is met with compassion, not judgment
Differences are embraced with curiosity and kindness
Needs are supported proactively, not reactively
Our setting is intentionally designed to reduce overwhelm, celebrate neurodiversity, and support emotional regulation and self-expression.
Lived Experience, Real Understanding
We’re proud that many of our team:
Are themselves neurodiverse
Are parents or carers of children with SEND
Have specialised training in inclusive education and developmental needs
This lived experience helps us connect with families in a genuine, respectful and informed way — because we truly understand the day-to-day realities of raising or supporting a neurodiverse child.
SEND Support in Early Years
Our early years provision includes:
Sensory-friendly play and calming spaces
Trained staff who understand developmental pathways and support strategies
Flexible routines and gentle transitions
Partnerships with parents, carers, health visitors and professionals
A nurturing approach where children can grow at their own pace, in their own way
We see every child as capable and deserving of care that meets them where they are.
