About Us – Lighthouse Family Centre

Lighthouse Family Centre CIC was founded in 2024 as a not-for-profit organisation with one clear mission: to give children the best possible start in life while supporting the families and communities that raise them.

After delivering over a decade of early years education as Nunnery Wood Preschool at Ronkswood Community Centre, our founders Clare and Lucy recognised a growing need — not just for quality childcare, but for holistic, community-focused support that nurtures the entire family.

That vision led to the creation of Lighthouse Family Centre — a space where learning, connection and compassion come together under one roof.

Our Vision

We believe that when families feel supported, children thrive.

Our vision is to:

• Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment for children aged 9 months to 5 years

• Provide SEND-friendly services that truly understand neurodiverse needs

• Offer support and connection for parents, carers and young people

• Build a stronger, more compassionate local community

Why We Exist

Too often, families feel isolated or unsupported. At Lighthouse Family Centre, we work to change that — not just through childcare, but through active community engagement, family support sessions, youth programmes and inclusive practices that welcome every individual as they are.

Lighthouse is led by a team with lived experience of SEND and years of professional expertise in early years education. Our team are:

• Highly trained in safeguarding, paediatric first aid and child development

• DBS-checked and regularly supervised

• Committed to inclusive practice and ongoing professional development

Where We’re Based

Lighthouse Family Centre is proudly based at Medway Community Centre in Worcester.

Our setting includes:

• Dedicated baby, toddler and preschool rooms

• A fully equipped sensory room

• On-site kitchen for nutritious, homemade meals

• A spacious community room for events and support sessions

• Outdoor areas for play, gardening and woodland adventures

We proudly welcome families from across Worcester and the surrounding areas.
